Black Hat Brigade "Zombie City Shake"

Some of you may be aware of the awesomeness that is Black Hat Brigade. If so, you are likely aware that both their self-titled debut, as well as their sort of recently released Fathers (Pick of the Week #20), were both stupendous records and some of my favourite recordings over the past couple of years. That, and their live show is pretty fun too.

What you may not be aware of (until you saw the post title) was that the band has put together their first video (ever) "Zombie City Shake", which was the lead single off their sort of recently released Fathers. Obviously, the BHB was not exactly in a position to spend a pile of money on the video -- as far as I know they still have not been signed by anyone, which seems ridiculous, but this may be a function of them wanting to stay independent -- but they've put together a very entertaining video nonetheless. The video's producer/director/videographer embrace that they're not going to, say, have any Michael Bay inspired explosions, and they end up doing pretty well with a green screen and a couple of actors.

Given those limitations, the man oblivious to the Zombies that are following him concept works well. It works well for me on a personal level because, for whatever reason, I've all of a sudden got into Zombie movies all of a sudden. Probably in part because of the Zombieland trailer (it's nice to see Woody Harrelson getting some work, isn't it?) that's been on TV for the last couple of weeks, it might've been that the first half of I Am Legend was so good (just rented this week), it could potentially be how much I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, but, really, this is just a fun video and an outstanding song.

Pick of the Week up tomorrow... probably...
