Earth Hour, Responding to Spam, LBJ, Where the Wild Things Are, Blake Griffin

  • A thought on Earth Hour (this may be completely incoherent) and the people who say that its stupid, not useful, etc.... its absolutely not the solution to global warming, curbing the over use of fossil fuels, smog, or whatever, but does anyone actually think that it is the solution? Does anyone who flicks off their lights for the hour actually dust off their hands and say, that's it for the year, I've done my part for the environment? I think for most people Earth Hour is a nice little reminder that there are little things we can do to be less terrible on our environment. Some may argue that little, incremental changes aren't enough, and they'd be right, but the fact of the matter unless someone really smart makes doing good things for the environment easy, individuals won't turn their behaviour around on a dime (think about people who are constantly dieting, quitting smoking, etc.).And, of course, there's going to be a certain sub-section of the population who doesn't think the we need to do anything for the environment - for whatever reason - then Earth Hour, or any other pleas on peoples conscience are not going to work, so then obviously something else needs to happen...
  • A "Photo Essay" of LBJ's career so far. Oh, and I thought he was great on 60 Mins last night... including the 70 ft.er he made in one take. I think he's got enough press that he's pretty much a lock for the MVP, and, I'm about 70% sure that the Cavs are going to win the title.
  • I g-chatted my buddy Kyle a little while ago (who basically the only person I know who follows College Hoops at all) to ask him about Blake Griffin before the tournament started, and he responded by saying, very simply, that Griffin was the best player in the college game. He was very impressive in the games that I saw, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the Oklahoma's strategy was playing UNC for the first 15 mins... I mean, if you know the double is going to come right away, every time, is there some basketball thing you could do?
NOTE: I'm humming and hawing about my pick of the week... it'll be up tomorrow...

I bet on the Sooners in that game. Brick after Brick. OU just could not bail Griffin out by draining shots. Could've tripled team him if they wanted to.
